tlalpan computer center

close project X

Bancrecer is a banking institution that needed a computer center to track its operations on a national level. Migdal Arquitectos won the project in a competition. They proposed renovating a 26,700-meter site with existing structures in southern Mexico City, which was already owned by the bank.

Technology plays a fundamental role in this building. Each area is monitored and controlled by state-of-the-art computer systems. Modulation is also essential to the building’s operation. The modular furniture employed by the architects is versatile and can be rearranged in many different configurations, depending on the bank’s needs.

This project questions the typology of the fortress-like computer center. In plan and articulation, the center encourages both employees and outsiders to view it as a technological aquarium. It expresses an interaction between man and machine, reflecting the transition from the industrial to the technological age.
